Elaborate temple offerings fashioned from many-coloured flowers. Ritual demanded a continuous renewal of the offerings, so it is the everyday experience of the devotees. The people put all their artistic talents into preparations for these. The art of creation is for both religion and society; it is both the aim of the faith and an expression of devotion to it. 

Wats have traditionally been the centres of social and communal life.  Temples are not just for worship, they are also used to meet the needs of everyday life, such as resting, 



and studying, Most wats have schools attached to them.  For centuries the only schools were those run by monks. Bhutan, a very young one.
